Q: How do we know that our interpretation of knowledge is right or it is a misinterpretation?

Sri Sri: When you see something, you introspect first.. You see the means of knowledge. Thats why in India science and spirituality never contradict each other. Spirituality believes first and experiments later. Science is experimenting first and believing later. In ancient days a child is given Brahma Upadesham, the highest knowledge is initiated to the child , right at childhood.

Q: What is a Sixth sense or it ok to follow it?

Sri Sri: Yes, It is ok to follow your intuition. Thats why when you do Pranama, meditation, you intuition become strong and thats why you can take proper decisions

Q: Guruji like I appreciate, the Sun and the Moon and the Nature, why cant God appreciate when I do something good?

Sri Sri: He doesnt appreciate you, because he knows you can do better. If he starts appreciating you every moment, then you desire to perform better will not be there.

Q: Knowledge betrays me in front of my teacher, can you help?

Sri Sri: That means you forget your lessons in front of your teacher ? ( Laughter) He says you should take some Brahmi Kashayam every day to improve your memory power. Would you comment on the Rama Setu Disaster ? and do you think we can do something about it. I have already given my comments on that. I seriously object the idea of demolishing the bridge which existed for 17 million years. The bridge is 10 kms long and 1.5 kms in width. Yes as an individual you can collect petitions and tell the Government, we care for our environment, please dont destroy it. If the bridge is destroyed, Tsunami will happen again. There will be a lot of environmental hazards, if the bridge is destroyed!!

Q: Guruji, if meditation for 20 minutes is equal to 7 hours of sleep. Why dont we meditate all night?

Sri Sri: Aati Sarvada varje, every thing of too much is bad. 0.

Q:Guruji what is the significance of a symbol in devotion?

Sri Sri: Devotion is your inner feeling. What triggers is not important. Devotion is culmination of love. Someone asks me, that Guruji we go to Tirupati and stand in the que for 7-8 hours and then take a glimpse of the deity and then we go in front of the deity we close our eyes!! But I tell you one minute is also important. The prayer, the energy stay within us for several days. That is why the ancient rishis says., like the water, recycles from river to the sky and from sky to river and back to the ocean. Sarva Deva Namaskara, Keshavam, prati gacchati. Which means in whatever form you pray it all goes to keshava finally?

Q: What is Gayatri Mantra?

Sri Sri: It is composed of 24 syllables and reciting it postively affects each of the 24 vertebrae in the back. More importantly, it means - bring noble thoughts from all directions (?). Its actually an expansion of the sound Om.

Q: What is the meaning of Om?

Sri Sri: Om is the most beautiful sound in creation also referred to as the primordial sound. It is composed of Aa, Oo and Mm. When one goes on top of the mountain and listens to the sound of the wind, one can hear the faint ‘Ommmmm’. When one carefully listens to the sound of the waves in the ocean, one can hear the rumbling ‘Ommmm’ in the distance. Also, reciting Om is akin to doing the 3-stage pranaayaams. The Aa part works on the stomach regions, Oo part works on the chest and Mm works on the upper regions.

Q: What does Swastika denote?

Sri Sri: It is a symbol and they are the people who make something out of the symbol. For eg, the ‘Do Not Enter’ symbol is only recognized in USA and Europe. It is not known in India and hence it has no significance. The Swastika represents the 4 time zones, also represents the 4 stages in life - in 100 years, first 25 years is for studying (studenthood) , next 25 years is the life of a householder, next 25 years is the time to do service for society, last 25 years is the time for being a recluse - completely detached from everything. There are several such 4s like the 4 Vedas etc. The ancient symbol of Swatika was in the clockwise direction and signified the cyclical nature of time. Hitler changed it make it go in the other direction and preverted the meaning.
